We’ve just finished Sugar-Free February, and our editor and Community Advocate Natalie Tharraleos wanted to share her Easy Energy Truffles recipe with us all.
Cutting down on sugar is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Too much sugar can lead to a variety of health issues, such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Eating too much sugar can also cause tooth decay, as well as other dental issues. By cutting down on sugar, you can reduce your risk of developing these health problems.
Additionally, reducing sugar intake can help to improve overall energy levels and mental clarity. By cutting down on sugar, you can enjoy a healthier and more balanced diet.

Now on to the main event with a lovely simple recipe packed full of natural ingredients that’s also gluten and dairy free, (it can also be nut free if you choose)
Ingredients:
- 4 oz dates, softened
- 1 tbspn of peanut butter/ any nut butter
- 2 oz ground almonds or your favourite ground nuts or seeds
- Juice of fresh orange
- Splash of tropical smoothie or splash of agave syrup
- Coconut flour or dessicated coconut to bind together
- 1 tbspn of pure cocoa powder, or raw cacoa powder
To coat:
- Ground seeds
- Desicated coconut
- Cocoa powder
- Ground nuts
How To Make:
Simmer the dates until soft
Add all the other ingredients and mix well
The mixture should be firm enough to roll, or you can chill it for 1 hour
Take a small piece of the mixture and roll it in the coconut and or cocoa powder, or coating of your choice
These keep really well in the fridge.
Great for gifts, energy boosts on walks or to help change diet.
Eat within 5 days.
Optional:
Add ½ tspn of ground ginger, cardomon mixed spice or cinnamon
Add a splash of peppermint oil or vanilla
Melt a bit of block creamed coconut for a firm texture and to replace the nut butter if you have a nut allergy
The dates can be swapped for apricots, figs or prunes
Add melted chocolate
