We discussed one of the Time to Talk day events that was coming up in our last issue; Tasneem is here to tell us a bit more about Time to Talk day

Local Co-Ops offer customers Time To Talk By Tasneem Suleman, Co-Op Member Pioneer.

Time for Talk Day – What an amazing experience. We offered customers a simple cuppa and a biscuit. Still, most importantly, we gave them valuable Time To Talk in our first ever in-store free cuppa and chat event, to mark Time TO Talk DayAnd we found out People didn’t need fancy foods; what they really wanted was someone to talk to.: 5 minutes, 10 minutes, that’s enough to put a smile on someone’s face. To take away just some of the stress of daily life,  a chance for them to talk about how they are feeling.

Customers chatted to us about how their day had been so far, saying how they were feeling. One customer said ‘it feels good to just talk to someone in the open’, another told us about his life as a carer, saying, ” It’s good to have got that off my chest.”

What is Time to Talk Day

Time to Talk Day is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. Happening every year, it’s a day for friends, families, communities, and workplaces to come together to talk, listen and change lives.

Time to Talk Day 2023 will takes place every 2 February, run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, in partnership with the Co-op and with support from Time To Change Wales, See Me and Change Your Mind / Inspire.

We know the more conversations we have, the better life is for everyone. Talking about mental health isn’t always easy, but a conversation has the power to change lives. Explore this site for ideas on how to participate in Time to Talk Day, from organising an event in your local library or hosting a lunch and learn session to simply sharing information on social media or texting a friend.

Make space in your day for a conversation about mental health this Time to Talk Day.

But making Time to Talk doesn’t have to stop after the day- what can your organisation, business or project do to make it easier for people to chat with you?
