Penda’s community centre – Community Picnic

Location: Pendas Community Centre, Pendas Way, Leeds, LS15 8LE, United Kingdom

12pm – 3pm, May 7th

Penda’s community centre, Cross Gates, is hosting a community picnic and games organised by The Tribe Youth Group. It will be a massive community fun day for all to enjoy. There will be a picnic as well as games for everyone to join in. You do not need to book tickets. Just turn up on the day.

Temple Newsam – Coronation picnic

Location: Temple Newsam, Temple Newsam Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS15 0AE, United Kingdom

11am – 3pm, May 8th

Temple Newsam is hosting a picnic with activities including entertainment which includes access to the house and farm. There will be lots of celebratory activities in the house and on the farm giving people a wonderful opportunity to enter the house. There is an entrance fee of £5 for everybody over the age of one. People are invited to attend, with restrictions on guide dogs only.

The Compton Centre – Tea and biscuits

The Compton Centre will be offering light refreshment( tea and biscuits) to the local community on Friday, the 5th of May and Saturday, the 6th of May  to mark the celebration of the coronation.  However, this will not disrupt the regular opening times or statutory services which will still be available to the wider community. In this regard, a few local residents including Imrich Sarkozy will also be providing a taste of the diverse cuisine to celebrate the diversity of Harehills and to bring people together. 

The Compton Library is also planning an event, “Celebrate with Seeds” on the 4th of May between 12pm and 1pm.” .They will provide people an opportunity to plant seed bombs to also celebrate Spring alongside the coronation. This is a drop in event for all ages: and booking is not required.

The Thackray Museum – Fit for a King

Location: Thackray Medical Museum, 141 Beckett Street, Leeds, LS9 7LN, United Kingdom

10am – 5pm, May 6th

The Thackray Museum is celebrating the coronation with activities fit for a King. Visitors are welcome to come along and join in the fun in which they can create badges, produce free crafts, and enjoy colouring activities for all ages. Visitors are welcome to join in a talk and take a rare glimpse of royal objects, including prescriptions for the late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the medicine case of King George V and even the hearing aid of Queen Victoria. The celebrations are free with any ticketed entry into the museum.
