Janine GriffithsAdults in Leeds will have the chance to try traditional Taoist movement arts at a special event in Kirkstall this month.
Sea Cloud Hall, described as the UK’s first dedicated centre for Taoist Arts, will host a public taster session on Saturday 26 September.
The centre overlooks Kirkstall Meadows and is the home of the Lee Family Taoist Arts.
The one-hour session will introduce participants to Tai Chi, Qigong, Breathwork and Cardio Kung Fu.
The session is open to adults aged 18 and over, with no previous experience required.
It will include both gentle, flowing movement and more dynamic physical training.
Laoma Wai-Yii Yeung, co-founder of Sea Cloud Hall, said: “Sea Cloud Hall is a place where people can experience Taoist exercises, movements and practical philosophy, rather than simply reading about it in a book. We’re delighted to open the centre to the wider public for this special session. It’s an opportunity to step away from the usual pace of life and reconnect with yourself in the beautiful surroundings of Kirkstall.”
The event will take place from 9am to 10am on Saturday 26 September at Sea Cloud Hall in Kirkstall.
Tickets cost £15 per person.
Sea Cloud Hall teaches Tai Chi and self-defence classes and welcomes new students throughout the year.
