While resolutions are traditionally made for New Year, those wanting an exciting challenge for the new academic year could train as novice boxers or MMA fighters and enjoy eight weeks free training for the Ultra White-Collar Boxing (WCB) and Ultra MMA November shows.

Participants must be novices and able to attend two weekly evening training sessions at Bad Company gym in Bramley where training starts week beginning September 21st.  There’s also training in Wetherby for the York Ultra WCB. The commitment is to sell a minimum of ten tickets to the shows and raise funds for a charity of the participant’s own choosing.

The WCB show takes place at The Royal Armouries New Dock on Saturday 21st November. The MMA show is at the same venue or possibly The Village Hotel in Headingley the following Saturday, 28th November. The July WCB show was attended by 900 people and April’s MMA show saw 500 tickets sold. The Leeds Ultra shows have already raised £860 thousand in charity donations.

Both male and female novice fighters aged 18 and above are welcome. Starting out can often be a bit daunting but everyone is in the same situation sharing the same goals and ambitions. New friends are quickly made. One of whom you’ll fight as your opponent on the show!

Here are the links for further information and to sign up. You’ll be proud you did and feel your fittest ever.

Support independent community journalism!

East Side Story covers the people, places and stories in Leeds that are too often overlooked. While national headlines chase conflict and clickbait, we focus on real communities and the issues shaping daily life in East Leeds.

Divisive content, AI noise and online rumours spread faster than ever. At the same time, many mainstream outlets are stretched and rarely spotlight the community organisations and local champions who deserve recognition.

East Side Story was created to change that. We answer only to our readers. We have no corporate owners or billionaire funders. Our journalists report freely, ask difficult questions and hold power to account.

Your support helps us keep this work going. Monthly contributions make the biggest impact because they allow us to invest in deeper reporting and fearless local journalism.
