Roundhay Festival has come to a close after a three day run that brought some of the world’s biggest music names to Leeds.

Pitbull headlined the opening night, with support from Jason Derulo, Tinie Tempah, Lil Jon, Los Tucanes De Tijuana and Jazzie Martian. Fans turned out in fancy dress to enjoy the sunshine throughout the festivities. Lewis Capaldi topped Saturday’s bill, joined by Conan Grey, Jessie Murph, Jacob Alon, Kerr Mercer, Nieve Ella, Ber and Maya Lane. Sunday brought a different atmosphere, with the Hallé Orchestra performing movie and classic favourites before an afterparty with DJ Yoda.

The weather stayed sunny with a light breeze on Friday, with highs of 22C easing to around 18C by the time Pitbull took to the stage. Saturday’s weather was similar, with light clouds, highs of 21C and rain in the afternoon. Sunday stayed cloudy, with highs of 21C and thunderstorms in the evening.

The event brought disruption as well as excitement for the local area. Road closures began at 11pm on Friday, prompting some schools to shut early.

Friends of Roundhay Park said organisers had pledged to tidy the site and had funded the rebuilding of the park’s cricket steps. Vice chair Sara Dawson called it a real celebration of the park, adding that investment was sorely needed after years of decline.

East Side Story covers the people, places and stories in Leeds that are too often overlooked. While national headlines chase conflict and clickbait, we focus on real communities and the issues shaping daily life in East Leeds.

Divisive content, AI noise and online rumours spread faster than ever. At the same time, many mainstream outlets are stretched and rarely spotlight the community organisations and local champions who deserve recognition.

East Side Story was created to change that. We answer only to our readers. We have no corporate owners or billionaire funders. Our journalists report freely, ask difficult questions and hold power to account.

Your support helps us keep this work going. Monthly contributions make the biggest impact because they allow us to invest in deeper reporting and fearless local journalism.
