Catherine Louise TurnerGlebelands Playing Fields was transformed into a sea of music fans, dancing, and community spirit yesterday, Saturday 18 July, as the highly anticipated G-Fest 2026 made its triumphant return.
Thousands of festivalgoers from across Leeds packed the venue from 11:00 am until late into the night to enjoy a stellar lineup of the UK’s top tribute acts, vibrant local food trucks, and family entertainment.
The day-long music event, organised in partnership with sponsors serves as a major annual fundraiser for St Gemma’s Hospice, with all ticket proceeds going directly to support local end-of-life care.
A Lineup of Legends
Under optimal summer festival skies, crowds were treated to non-stop hits spanning multiple genres and eras including:
- The Spike Island Roses and Sham Fender who kicked off the rock energy early on, drawing massive sing-alongs from indie fans.
- The Olivia Rodrigo Experience captured the hearts of younger pop fans, while Kaiser Cheats brought a distinct local Leeds energy to the stage.
- Foo Fighters GB delivered a heavy, high-octane rock set that had the entire field moving.
- Jeff Dingle as Bruno Mars and CJ as Michael Jackson provided the ultimate pop spectacles, closing out the evening with synchronised choreography and show-stopping hits that left the Garforth crowd buzzing.
Community Spirit on Display
Beyond the main stage, G-Fest 2026 proved to be an ideal day out for families. A bustling array of local independent food trucks kept attendees fed with diverse culinary options, complemented by a fully stocked licensed bar. Children’s activities and entertainment zones ensured that the community’s youngest members were equally engaged throughout the 11-hour marathon event.
Representatives from St Gemma’s Hospice expressed deep gratitude to the thousands of supporters who purchased tickets, noting that the final fundraising total is expected to significantly impact their ability to provide critical, compassionate medical care to patients and families across the region.
With another successful year in the books, G-Fest has firmly cemented its status as the crown jewel of Garforth’s summer calendar. Organisers are already looking ahead to next year’s planning, promising an even bigger celebration for the local community.
