These are challenging times, with inflation on the rise and gas and electric prices continuing to soar despite government caps. Charities and organisations are struggling to meet the basic needs of the most vulnerable in society and fill in the gap left by those in power.

In response, Forum Central is trying to get grants to organisations doing their best to support people in society. The deadline to apply for a grant is quickly approaching, and organisations must act now to ensure they do not miss out on this opportunity.
Forum Central Household Support Fund
Forum Central is offering grants of up to £1,000 and £5,000 to organisations that support Communities of Interest such as cultural diversity, people with mental health difficulties (including Young People), learning disabilities, physical and sensory impairment, and older people.
There is no set deadline for applications, and they will be assessed on a weekly basis until all the funds are allocated. All grants must be used by March 2023.
The Household Support Fund (HSF) is a Central Government fund provided to Local Authorities to help individual households access food and fuel during the winter period. This fund will prioritize supporting people with food and fuel costs, such as fuel meter top-up cards, payments for energy-efficient equipment, and more.
To ensure that those most vulnerable are able to access this support, Leeds Community Anchor Network, Leeds Food Aid Network, and Forum Central will be distributing a portion of the fund to third-sector partners. To work quickly, a rolling grant programme will be available beginning on Friday, December 16th, 2022.

Support independent community journalism!
East Side Story covers the people, places and stories in Leeds that are too often overlooked. While national headlines chase conflict and clickbait, we focus on real communities and the issues shaping daily life in East Leeds.
Divisive content, AI noise and online rumours spread faster than ever. At the same time, many mainstream outlets are stretched and rarely spotlight the community organisations and local champions who deserve recognition.
East Side Story was created to change that. We answer only to our readers. We have no corporate owners or billionaire funders. Our journalists report freely, ask difficult questions and hold power to account.
Your support helps us keep this work going. Monthly contributions make the biggest impact because they allow us to invest in deeper reporting and fearless local journalism.
Supporters also receive exclusive updates, behind the scenes insights and other benefits as a thank you for keeping independent journalism alive.
