1. A Rainbow of Flavours:
Harehills is a culinary adventure, with restaurants and shops representing cuisines from around the world. There’s something for everyone, and you can travel the world of food with just a walk up the street. From BBC featured Anand Sweets, Maureen’s Caribbean restaurant, the Persian delights of Darvish, or the freshly grilled chicken from Pepe’s – we have everything you could ever want.
2. Community Spirit:
As recent events have shown, Harehills residents are quick to support each other in times of need. This strong sense of community is evident in the numerous local initiatives and groups that work tirelessly to improve the neighborhood. Whether it’s a winner festival, a hot meal, or people coming together to share poetry. Everyone matters.
3. Green Spaces:
Harehills may be densely populated, but it also boasts several parks and green spaces where residents can relax, play, and connect with nature. These oases offer a welcome respite from the urban hustle and bustle.
4. Hidden Gems:
Beyond the main streets, Harehills is full of hidden gems waiting to be discovered. From independent shops and cafes to community gardens and art projects, there’s always something new to explore. From an urban farm, to the historied buildings, neglected buildings being brought into use for our community like the Junior Sports Hub.
5. Resilience:
Harehills has faced challenges throughout its history, but it always bounces back stronger. This resilience is a testament to the strength and determination of its residents, who refuse to let negativity define their community. Whether it’s our young people passing out paper flowers with lovely messages as random acts of kindness, the community gathering to litter pick, organisations putting in events for Halloween and bonfire night, our community stands for something positive and beautiful, in the face of crisis and detractors.
