A village pub in East Leeds can extend its opening hours after conditions were agreed to prevent neighbours from being disturbed.

The Fox, located on Main Street in Thorner, will serve drinks until 12.30am at weekends after changes to its premises licence were approved. The pub had applied to add an extra hour to its serving hours on Fridays and Saturdays.

One objection was received from a nearby householder who raised concerns over potential noise. However, Leeds City Council approved the variation to the licence after measures were agreed with the police.

Star Pubs, which runs the premises, said the Fox would comply with licence conditions to prevent public nuisance.

Its licence application said: “We are seeking an extension to the terminal hour to provide the premises greater flexibility in its trading hours and to allow customers to continue their evening in a safe and enjoyable environment.”

The application was due to be heard by a licensing sub-committee at Leeds Civic Hall on Tuesday. However, the hearing was withdrawn after agreements were reached with the council and West Yorkshire Police.

A council spokesperson confirmed that the application was granted, subject to conditions.

Under the agreed terms, the Fox will continue to serve alcohol until 11pm from Monday to Thursday, and until 10.30pm on Sundays.
