Vinnie’s Community Theatre Company is calling on East Leeds to join its next show.
The inclusive community drama group is ready to welcome fresh faces, offering a supportive environment where anyone can get involved regardless of their prior experience.
Following a vibrant showcase, the group is opening its doors to anyone wanting to act, sing, build sets, or learn technical skills and direction, promising a place for every single person who wants to be a part of the show.

Tim Dawtry, Activities Co-ordinator at St Vincent’s, said everybody is welcome, and the shows are always exciting and full of energy.
“We consider ourselves to be Leeds’ most fun and most inclusive community drama group,” he said, adding: “We welcome everybody, and we do really good, fun, exciting shows for the community.
“Please come and get involved, whether you’ve never done any acting but fancy having a go, or you’re a singer, costume maker or tech-minded, come along.”

The invitation follows a lively cabaret night at St Vincent’s, which brought Burmantofts together for an evening of music, comedy and theatre. Families and residents of all ages packed into the centre to watch the performances.
Local band Vinnie & The Saints provided live music throughout the night. They played classic hits like Get Away by Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, A Message to You Rudy by The Specials and Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel, along with other big hits.

Members of Vinnie’s Theatre Company took to the stage for a string of performances. Mini productions included a lively take on The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and their own local spin on a classic tale, The Wizard of Osmondthorpe, among other classics.
Local poet and performer Hank Smith brought a quieter moment to the evening. His heartfelt poetry gave the night some warmth alongside the laughter and music.
The cabaret was a true family affair, with young children and older residents joining in the fun together. It reflected the inclusive spirit the group is known for across Burmantofts and beyond.
Anyone interested in getting involved can visit the Vinnie’s Community Theatre Company Facebook page or email TimD@svp.org.uk to hear about the next steps.
Support independent community journalism!
East Side Story covers the people, places and stories in Leeds that are too often overlooked. While national headlines chase conflict and clickbait, we focus on real communities and the issues shaping daily life in East Leeds.
Divisive content, AI noise and online rumours spread faster than ever. At the same time, many mainstream outlets are stretched and rarely spotlight the community organisations and local champions who deserve recognition.
East Side Story was created to change that. We answer only to our readers. We have no corporate owners or billionaire funders. Our journalists report freely, ask difficult questions and hold power to account.
Your support helps us keep this work going. Monthly contributions make the biggest impact because they allow us to invest in deeper reporting and fearless local journalism.
