Unpaid carers in East Leeds can access information, advice and support from a variety of organisations at an event later this month.

Carers Leeds, in partnership with Leeds Community Healthcare Trust, Leeds City Council and West Leeds PCN hosting a Carers Roadshow at White Rose Centre on Friday 23 August 2024, from 10am to 4pm.

The Carers Roadshow will feature information stalls from a diverse range of organisations, including Leeds Community Healthcare Trust, Family Action, Citizens Advice Leeds and more. There will also be health checks available on the day, as well as entertainment and refreshments.

“We are excited to be a part of the Summer Leeds Carers Roadshow, working with organisations from across the city, to help connect unpaid carers with the vital resources they need to care for themselves and the person they care for.” said Claire Turner, CEO of Carers Leeds.

“We encourage all unpaid carers to attend the Summer Leeds Carers Roadshow at the White Rose Centre to learn more about the support that is available to them.”

Louise Brady, Primary Care Nursing Lead at NHSE, added: “After running two successful roadshows in other parts of Yorkshire, we have been collating feedback and data from carers and families.

“Families tell us having the time and space to talk to health and social care colleagues really matters. The roadshows have supported carers within their local communities to feel valued when they are the ‘invisible unpaid workforce across health and care’.”

Trevor Clower, an unpaid carer and NHS England peer leader, has been working with primary and community nurses to create and sustain carer and nurse partnerships.

“The Yorkshire roadshows offer a voice to the vulnerable and an ear to the talented. We have worked to strengthen new ways of working, providing a seamless service to local communities and I am so pleased all our work has been recognised. There is much more we can do to achieve together to support all our carers.”
