Jaimes Lewis Moran has sent us some fantastic poetry he wanted to share. You can find Jaimes on his own Facebook page here or on his Amazon page.

Overloaded by Words:

There’s too many books surrounding me, now I’m stuck unable to start.

With each book taken I made a promise; to give these a read, a space in my heart.

Perhaps poetry is the starting point; no page after page of words?

Simple stories with easy rhymes, a small paperback to pass the time.

Then ease myself into bite-sized reads, a nibble there, or a plot to tease.

These characters strange, yet dear to me. Wherever next will their story lead!

For last, I’ll save those bulky tomes, with fantasy worlds and creatures unknown.

They’ll screech and howl until shelves do break, then sit unread in this home I’ve made.

Get Growing:

Get growing your ideas of the way things could be;

A future with tall trees and cleaner air to breath.

Get growing your ambition wherever you may start,

Yet do this with kindness and understanding in heart.

Stay wide-eyed in wonder at the things we create,

Your visions of better and your victories made.

Now is the time and there’s no need to wait;

Get growing your dreams, don’t leave it too late!

The Leek Affair:

Here in the grocer’s isle is where I met your gaze;

Beside the sprouts you were, irresistible.

I shall introduce you to my family and friends,

Meet around tables and gorge ourselves on your presence.

My previous diet was a noxious, unhealthy one.

Yet you brought something else, a jasmine green gold;

Spiced-up my bland and empty plate.

This leek affair must not be hidden, I will break free from this shame;

Friends, forgive me for the way I’ve changed,

As I now find myself a vegetarian again!

  1. “Get growing your ambition wherever you may start,

    This has to be my favorite verse (although I’ve enjoyed all 3 poems) because I needed to hear it today. Thank you so much for this nourishing poetry. May all odds be in your favor today.
