A consultation has been launched where residents in inner city East Leeds can have their say on travel issues in the communities.

Connecting Leeds wants to better understand issues related to travel in Leeds and are consulting in a few wards at a time for a period of six weeks.

The consultation has now gone live in Burmantofts & Richmond Hill, Gipton & Harehills, and Killingbeck & Seacroft and will run until Sunday, 8 September 2024.

The main aim is for people to have their say on transport/safety issues in their local area. Residents, businesses and stakeholders can do this by visiting our Have Your Say Today – Burmantofts & Richmond Hill, Gipton & Harehills, Killingbeck & Seacroft – Commonplace and dropping a pin on a map. The five main themes are –

  1. Vehicles and parking
  2. Walking and wheeling (including accessibility, prams, wheelchairs and scooters)
  3. Cycling
  4. Accessing bus stops and rail stations
  5. The street environment

The data from these consultations will help Connecting Leeds prioritise improvements when funding becomes available,.

A video has been created to explain the consultation in a more simplified way, if you can please share this through any of your networks.

Below is also a copy of the flyer/poster we are distributing, if you would like any to share amongst your community, please email connectingleeds@leeds.gov.uk.

Support independent community journalism!

East Side Story covers the people, places and stories in Leeds that are too often overlooked. While national headlines chase conflict and clickbait, we focus on real communities and the issues shaping daily life in East Leeds.

Divisive content, AI noise and online rumours spread faster than ever. At the same time, many mainstream outlets are stretched and rarely spotlight the community organisations and local champions who deserve recognition.

East Side Story was created to change that. We answer only to our readers. We have no corporate owners or billionaire funders. Our journalists report freely, ask difficult questions and hold power to account.

Your support helps us keep this work going. Monthly contributions make the biggest impact because they allow us to invest in deeper reporting and fearless local journalism.

Supporters also receive exclusive updates, behind the scenes insights and other benefits as a thank you for keeping independent journalism alive.
