A convicted paedophile has been returned to prison for 42 months (3 years for new offences, plus 6 months from a previous suspended sentence) after being caught performing a sex act in broad daylight in a busy supermarket car park.

Martyn Pridmore, 43, whose history of predatory behaviour has long made him a figure of concern in certain communities, was spotted by horrified members of the public at the Lidl supermarket on Aberford Road, Garforth at 09:00 am on 14th December 2025.

Witnesses reported seeing Pridmore inside his vehicle engaging in a lewd act, showing a blatant disregard for the families and shoppers nearby.

Police were alerted to the scene, where they found Pridmore fumbling with his clothing. Upon his swift arrest, authorities also discovered that he had violated a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) by possessing an unregistered mobile phone. Further investigation of the device revealed the possession and distribution of Category A illegal and indecent images.

At Leeds Crown Court, the details of the incident were highlighted with the prosecution stating Pridmore’s “persistent and brazen” disregard for public decency and his existing legal restrictions. The court also determined that Pridmore posed a continued risk to the public.

Pridmore, a former youth worker with a string of previous convictions for serious offences, was told by Judge, Geoffrey Marson KC, that his actions proved he remained a significant risk to the public.

“This was not a lapse in judgement, but a public display of depravity,” the Judge, remarked during sentencing. “The public, particularly in a community setting like a supermarket, deserves protection from this type of predatory and offensive behaviour.”

Pridmore was sentenced to a fresh term of imprisonment on 19th of March 2026, much to the relief of residents who have long campaigned for stricter monitoring of high-risk offenders in the area.

Local community leaders in Garforth praised the witnesses who came forward. “It takes courage to report these things, but it is exactly that vigilance that keeps our streets safer,” said one local representative.

Pridmore will remain behind bars for the duration of his sentence, with strict conditions placed upon his eventual release.
