Janine GriffithsEight talented Leeds pianists will keep the keys moving all day at Kirkgate Market, filling the air with an eclectic mix of pop, blues, boogie woogie, folk, classical, Latin, and jazz. This special event, taking place on Friday 1st March from 10am to 4:30pm, aims to inspire, soothe, and raise vital funds for MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians).
Among the musicians taking part is former Leeds MEP Michael McGowan, who believes in the power of music to bring change. “Through Pianos for Peace, we can stop the slaughter of innocent children in Gaza and use music to build a world of peace and justice,” he says.
Local musician Simon Cohen will also be performing, adding: “As a musician, it’s meaningful to play the piano to help alleviate the suffering of Palestinians who have been victims of appalling injustices.”
