Nominations are officially open for the 2025 Leeds Compassionate City Awards and the organisers want to hear your stories. You can put forward as many individuals, groups, or organisations as you like across a wide range of categories, from sport and environment to inclusion and fundraising.
One of the most powerful awards, the Jo Cox Award, honours people who unite communities and champion inclusivity – echoing the late MP’s belief that “we have far more in common than things that divide us.”
Other categories include:
- Unsung Hero of the Year – for those who selflessly support vulnerable people in their community
- Fundraising Achievement – recognising determination, creativity and personal challenges overcome
- Diversity Project of the Year – for efforts to build a fairer, more inclusive society
- Outstanding Achievement – for a lasting legacy that has transformed lives across Leeds
- Community Organisation or Project of the Year – celebrating those making a real impact during difficult times
- Sporting categories – from unsung grassroots volunteers to community projects using sport for good
- Health and Wellbeing Project of the Year – for initiatives improving happiness and mental or physical health
- Environmental Achievement – recognising those tackling climate and conservation issues locally
