Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire has donated £250 to help young musicians across East Leeds continue their love of playing brass instruments.
The housebuilder decided to support Garforth Brass as it is based at Garforth Methodist Church, close to its Morwick Springs development, in Leeds Road.
First established more than 20 years ago, Garforth Bass has been entertaining audiences at concerts and events across the region. The group takes pride in mentoring its players, with the opportunity to compete in regional and national competitions through the contesting band, while the training band offers tuition to players of all backgrounds and abilities.
Janet Lymath, Treasurer at Garforth Brass, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to receive this donation from Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire. At Garforth Brass, we predominantly rely on donations from our supporters to ensure that our players can continue to perform and compete. With running costs higher than ever, we are extremely grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their support.”
Sam Evans, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “We’re committed to giving back to the communities in which we build and we were pleased to be able to offer this donation to Garforth Brass. We hope our donation goes some way to helping the group continue to bring people together through music.”
The donation underscores the housebuilder’s commitment to supporting the local communities in which it builds, enriching lives beyond its developments.
Morwick Springs is a collection of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. The development is completely gas free, with all homes benefitting from air source heat pumps.

East Side Story covers the people, places and stories in Leeds that are too often overlooked. While national headlines chase conflict and clickbait, we focus on real communities and the issues shaping daily life in East Leeds.
Divisive content, AI noise and online rumours spread faster than ever. At the same time, many mainstream outlets are stretched and rarely spotlight the community organisations and local champions who deserve recognition.
East Side Story was created to change that. We answer only to our readers. We have no corporate owners or billionaire funders. Our journalists report freely, ask difficult questions and hold power to account.
Your support helps us keep this work going. Monthly contributions make the biggest impact because they allow us to invest in deeper reporting and fearless local journalism.
