This weekend Phoenix Dance Theatre returns to the Thackray Museum for a special performance, previewing new work across the museum’s unique gallery spaces.
Following the success of last year’s community tour, the company will perform in atmospheric settings, from the Victorian street exhibit to the historic operating theatre, inviting audiences to experience dance in an immersive way.
The event is free for all visitors in celebration of the National Lottery’s 30th birthday, made possible through funding from Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Thackray Museum of Medicine, located in Harehills, aims to welcome local residents and visitors to experience both dance and history, showcasing the depth of the city’s arts and heritage.
Phoenix Dance Theatre’s partnership with Thackray Museum highlights the vibrant cultural scene in East Leeds, where historic and modern storytelling intertwine through performances and exhibits. The free entry initiative reflects a commitment to accessible culture, offering a unique opportunity for the community to engage with Leeds-based artists and discover new perspectives on health, history, and art.
To attend the event, simply turn up on the day at Thackray Medical Museum, 141 Beckett St, Harehills, Leeds LS9 7LN.
