A new community sewing group is inviting Leeds residents to get creative, learn new skills and meet others — all for just £3 per session.

Chapeltown resident Norma, from Orlandos Fashion will hold the sessions every Friday at Barbados House, which will offer a relaxed and friendly space for people to sew together.

Starting from the week commencing 6 March 2026, sessions will run from 10.00am to 12.00pm at Barbados House, 15 Reginald Row, Leeds, LS7 3HP.

The project is open to everyone, from complete beginners to those looking to improve their skills. Organisers say the focus is on community, creativity and fun rather than experience.

Participants will have the chance to work on practical handmade items including pillowcases, bags and draught excluders, with plenty of other projects to try.

Described as a “friendly community project”, the sessions aim to bring people together to share skills, learn something new and enjoy a productive Friday morning.

All are welcome.
