JohnCouncil planners have given the green light to demolish a vandalised former community facility in Osmandthorpe.
As previously reported by East Side Story, Osmondthorpe One Stop Centre was deemed surplus to requirements by Leeds City Council and the site is likely to be redeveloped for housing.
The building was built around the 1900’s and used as a school up until around the 1990’s when it was converted into a One Stop Centre.
The council’s planning department this week approved the demolition of the vacant building on Wykebeck Mount.
A planning report said: “It has become a magnet for anti-social behaviour, which has resulted in complaints from residents.”
It concluded: “Demolition of this building is considered the most economical way for ward for the council.”
