Plans for the new Fearnville Wellbeing Centre have taken a major step forward, with a specialist contractor now appointed to complete the detailed design work ahead of construction starting this summer.

The new centre is set to become a flagship health and leisure hub for East Leeds, offering a wide range of modern indoor and outdoor facilities designed to support healthier, more active lives. Inside, residents can expect swimming pools, a fully equipped gym, fitness studios, community space and a soft play area for families. Outside, the plans include a new play area, skate park, sports courts and improved landscaped green space.

The development is expected to serve communities in Gipton and Harehills as well as residents from across the wider East Leeds area, creating a welcoming and accessible space for people of all ages.

Councillor Salma Arif said the project would bring lasting benefits to local people. “Top quality, accessible leisure centres help people live healthier, more active lives. This will be a fantastic new facility for my local residents, not only in Gipton and Harehills but across East Leeds.”

Once complete, the Fearnville Wellbeing Centre is expected to play a key role in improving health, wellbeing and community life in the area.
