JohnCouncil planners have approved proposal for new floodlights to be installed at Harehills Park Bowling Club.
The club, based in Harehills Park, said lighting would help it run evening sessions and events through the winter as the club’s committee works to recruit new members after numbers dwindled during the Covid pandemic.
A council planning officer’s report said: “When the clocks go back in October, events and activities must cease due to the lack of lighting, leaving the facility unused and members unable to enjoy the facilities and partake in activities.
“Provision of lights will allow the club to extend the sessions and run evening sessions with groups and members.”
The report said eight-metre galvanised lighting columns would be installed around the green near Coldcotes Avenue.
Shields would be attached to reduce light spill from the eight columns.
